After reading a couple “year in reviews” today, I had to sit and take some time to do one of my own.
This has been a year I will never forget, my daily insulin shots will remind me of it for the rest of my life.
I had to start the post with this picture…it was taken 1 year ago today.
I’m so blessed to have my parents here again to ring in the new year!
We are keeping it low-key tonight, turkey dinner and a Sequence marathon.
xoxo from Trinidad
January welcomed my parents to Trinidad for the 1st time & I met Karen, one of the best friends a gal can have!
February was filled with new experiences – My 1st Carnival & J’ouvert – Trini Style! What an amazing experience and party!
March was memorable because I ran my 1st half marathon…under 2 hours too.
side note: I ran 515 miles this year = awesome
April came and I dressed like a pirate and I had a hot date with this cutie!
May ended with a BANG – I jumped into a pool and would soon realize that I would need surgery.
June brought my birthday, we traveled to Curacao, aircast and all….and had a blast!
July was full of travels afar, beautiful sunsets and training for my next run…in the pool, of course.
August brought a lot of change.
We traveled to Canada and Missouri for family visits.
Once I arrived in Missouri however, I was hospitalized and diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes.
It was a complete shock.
Later I would find out that I almost died.
September I learned how to make my own drumsticks…delicious!
I also viewed more amazing sunsets.
Oh yea…I also took 2nd in my age group in Nashville at a 5K, 1month after my diabetes diagnosis.
(victory for me – take that diabetes)
I also celebrated my three yr wedding anniversary w/my amazing husband!
October was filled with taking pictures of bugs, eating a lot of won-ton recipes, laying by the pool…
HALLOWEEN – lawn flamingo & garden gnomes = best costumes ever!
November was amazing!
I traveled to FL to run my half marathon w/Melissa and we killed it!
I couldn’t have done it w/o her…esp. snice she was the one who inspired me in the 1st place!
Then, I traveled to Michigan to meet my new sister, Sugar and enjoy some family fun time!
December did not go as planned.
Instead of NYC, Broadway and fancy eats…
I dealt w/surgery, pain and a Christmas in Houston.
We celebrated Christmas yesterday, cast and all!
