WARNING: This is a whole lotta info so my feelings will not be hurt if you aren’t into reading a cruise review xo
Miami – Eastern Caribbean – 7 Days
Room 12254 – Floor 12
The Escape is brand new so everything was shiny and new (i love new) and it was beautiful. The ship didn’t dissapoint either and it’s huge, the 3rd biggest on the water currently, but unlike the Royal Caribbean Anthem of the Seas we never felt lost or like we had to walk 5 miles to get somewhere. This was my 8th cruise and I have to say this was the best designed boat I’ve been on minus the cramped bedroom closet situation (see photo). After 4 days, we were still stumbling upon new bars and fun spots and unless I was in the casino, I never walked past a smoker ever. There were so many “fun spots” everyone was always spread out so lines were always almost non-exsistant.
From the mere 10 minutes wait to check in and board (amazing), the instant cabin access at noon (amazing), the never wait more than a couple minutes for a drink, anywhere (awesome) to the pure happiness from every employee on board (true) – NCL exceeded my expectations and provided the best service I’ve ever had on a cruise. And anytime I went to Guest Services, which is normally always crazy and has at least 8 people in line, there was NEVER A LINE, ever. Just amazing service everywhere, at all times.
One of the reasons I love cruising so much is because I love the trivia, casino and fun onboard. We loved Celebrity but they lack on the “fun” a bit so I was hoping NCL would measure up to my expectations and once again they knocked it out of the park! There was plenty of the usual games, trivia and poolside fun but there were also a lot of new things like Deal or No Deal and Jeopardy where you actually won prizes you wanted like free photos or a specialty dinner for 2 instead of silly t shirts. And the shows were fantastic as well and this is coming from a couple that never stays for an entire show, ever. We went to see Million Dollar Quartet, showed up late and had to stand up (our fault) and stayed for the entire show!
Very important category and is the main reason we had been cruising with Celebrity so this category was going to either be the reason we go back to them or switch to NCL. AMAZING. Everywhere you went from the buffet to the dining room to the (included) O’Sheehan’s pub (best chicken wings ever) was delicious and accommodating (ask for a turkey reuben – not on the menu). There was a ton of extra dining options too like a Teppanyaki restaurant (great) and Cagney’s Steakhouse (MUST) and several others worth checking out. I ate lobster practically every night…yum.
WOWSERS – this is the biggest and best spa in any cruise ship on the water right now. It’s massive, there a dry sauna, hot sauna, steam room, salt room and my favorite a SNOW ROOM. The pool inside is heated and is huge and there’s 2 hot tubs inside as well and there are more than triple the usual number of heated beds to lay on. DO yourself a favor and buy the spa pass for $200 a person, which gets you in for the entire cruise whenever you want – totally worth it!
– Hungry late at night? Hit the casino where they had a killer snack buffet every night
– Ride the watersides and do the ropes course on port days, no lines and SUPER FUN
– If you are poolside all day, ask for the bottle of wine or bucket of beer instead of by the glass, its still free and saves the waiter time
– Do not miss Million Dollar Quartet – best show on the seas, I swear
– Remember, if you don’t see what you want to eat, simply ask nicely for it...they will make it for you
– Don’t miss the Glow Party – its a blast!
– A must try is the Grass Clippings cocktail at Tobacco Dock bar – amazing and included in the drink package
