It sucks when you realize you should have taken you’re own advice, really sucks. It’s really easy to talk about how to stay injury free and another thing to actually do it. Don’t worry, I’m not seriously injured but I am in pain. I thought I could start training after my move and save time by skipping my stretches, yoga, ice baths and massages.
I pushed and pushed and pushed and then last Thursday my knee started hurting. My knee has never hurt before… But during my day of rest on Friday, I realized that my sore knee was just a tiny drop in the bucket of my real issues. My glutes, calves, quads...it all was tight. No wonder something started hurting…
Every single time we move, this happens. I put my needs after the needs of the move and then something’s gotta give. I’m just thankful this time it wasn’t something more serious like my stress fracture when I moved to London. I’ll be OK but it looks like my Run Up To Christmas attempt at 150 km will have to be stopped at 100 km instead. Today will be another rest day.
My plans for the rest of the year is to focus on more yoga, stretching and getting my legs back to a healthy state so I can kill my half marathon in early Feb…oh and my Prediction 10k on NYE.
6 Days Till Christmas!
